In 2008 three lads decided to head for something more than what had preceded the previous ten years of their musical lifespan. They all felt that an essential change was going to happen… this something was given a name:

René Rothacher (vocals & guitars), Reto Kyburz (bass guitar) and Lukas Stocker (drums) had a vision of how Deadwerner was going to sound like. Heavy melancholic tunes with a touch of dirt and honesty gradually evolved within the four walls of their basement for two long years. Finally, their first album DW – a complete self-production – was released in summer 2010.

DW consists of nine carefully self-written songs, of which every one was recorded in their own home studio. The sound of DW is captured by rough guitars, a strong present bass and a set of solid str (...) Mehr anzeigenaight drums. This mix provides its listeners with the pleasure of pure rock, yet highlighting the dark and reflective side of their music. The album, reminds of early Radiohead, Foo Fighters, Pixies and Soundgarden. This became main reason for their tour in Germany that led them all the way up to Hamburg.

In winter 2010/11 a club tour followed. Beside their own concerts they were booked as support band for the Swedish post-rock band pg.lost, where they gained further experience playing with professionals side by side.

Their long tours and subsequent playing at different locations made their sound ripen over time and soon they started to work on a second album, which they named Monochrome Times. Yet, the production had to be interrupted due to another tour in Germany that took place in Bremen, Kiel, Hamburg and Berlin.

Monochrome Times was finally completed by Deadwerner in April 2012 and its conception only changed hands to Spectre Studio in Seattle for the final mastering process. Monochrome Times sounds more considerate and experienced than their first release. Elaborate, experimental passages and energetic elements with straight drum work captivate the listener’s ear, still granting subtle progressions and dreamy components. The lyrics grew to be more personal and to express the events of their everyday life with all its joys and cruelties.

Deadwerner’s aim is to convince their listeners with content and emotion, constantly with focus on their music. The only true way for musicians to reach the audience. Weniger anzeigen
