Pat Hargreaves is a little known Singer-Songwriter from New Zealand. He grew up in the heartland of the North Island and began playing and writing songs after meticulously restoring an old guitar he found in the attic of his parents home. In the summer of the mid 90’s he moved to the Scottish South Island town of Dunedin, which produced highly acclaimed Indie artists such as The Chills, The Clean, Straight Jacket Fits and The Verlaines. Here he spent almost a decade writing and performing music, establishing himself in the music scene. After winning a songwriting competition with a composition he wrote the day before the event, he went on to make several appearances in renowned venues of the city.

By this time it was 2003, and Pat moved with his whole kit and caboodle to S (...) Mehr anzeigenwitzerland, where he promptly joined the Indie Rock band Valium21. He simultaneously began work on his first debut album “Sequestered Luminosities”, which is an assortment of songs which he gradually collected during his time in Dunedin. Pat moved to Basel Stadt early in 2009, where he cofounded the Band “There Will Be Lions”, and is currently in the process of producing his second solo album “Shipwrecked Shoes”, which should be out in early 2012.

Pat’s expressive and characteristic voice creates a warm and emotionally charged atmosphere while his poetic lyrics convey simple life truths that any audience can relate to. He often explores atypical composition possibilities by crafting unique song structures and filling them with beautifully rich tones and melodies. His sound and approach to music has been likened to that of Elliott Smith, Nick Drake and Mason Jennings.

Pat Hargreaves ist ein in unseren Breitengraden noch relativ unbekannter Singer-Songwriter aus Neuseeland. Im Herzen der Nordinsel aufgewachsen, begann er mit dem Schreiben und Spielen seiner eigenen Songs, nachdem er auf dem Dachboden seiner Eltern eine alte Gitarre gefunden und diese, in mühevoller Kleinstarbeit, selbst restauriert hatte. Mitte der 90iger Jahre zog es den jungen Künstler auf die Südinsel nach Dunedin. Die schottisch geprägte Stadt ist die Heimat einer ganzen Reihe bekannter Indie-Rock-Bands, wie the Chills, the Clean, Straight Jacket Fits und the Verlaines. Er verbrachte dort nahezu ein ganzes Jahrzehnt mit dem Schreiben und Spielen seiner Musik und wurde so zu einem festen Bestandteil der Undergroundszene. Nach dem Gewinn eines Singer-Songwriter-Wettbewerbes folgten etliche Auftritte in den renommiertesten Clubs der Stadt.

2003 war es dann soweit – Pat zog mit Sack und Pack in die Schweiz, wo er nach kurzer Zeit Mitglied der Indie-Rock-Band Valium 21 wurde. Parallel dazu begann er mit der Arbeit an seinem Debutalbum „Sequestered Luminosities“, einer Sammlung von Songs, die sich über die Jahre angesammelt hatten. Derzeit arbeitet er an seinem zweiten Album „Shipwrecked Shoes“, welches im Verlauf des Jahres veröffentlicht werden soll.

Neben seiner Arbeit als Solokünstler ist Pat als Sänger und Gitarrist mit der Alt-Indie-Rock-Band There will be Lions unterwegs.
