Surreal Lyrical Vignettes

In November 2006 Philipp Weigl delighted listeners with a phantasmagoric album of soft-spoken vocals and dreamy atmospheres on his Thinner full length "Monsters". Now, almost a year later, he combines his talents with those of veteran eJazzica-drummer Michael Hoffmann (drums/percussion, beat-programming, and co-production) and brings an EP of surreal electronica to Autoplate delivering three songs of pensive fragileness containing whispered lyrics, warm piano melodies, polished beats, smooth bass lines, and synthesized orchestral strings by way of "Examples of a Medusa."

The lyrics of these sonic vignettes are themed around dreamlike situations ranging from contradictory and unsettling to curious and obscure to cozy and contemplative. The music itself has the paradoxical quality of simultaneously being able to both temper and accentuate the peculiar situations narrated in Philipp's lyrics with the inviting and melodious sounds while a rich backdrop of refined percussion and programmed beats provided by Michael complements everything perfectly.
