After several years spent watching the blank looks and slightly stunned reaction to his acoustic programme, John Keane, the Anglo-Irish singer and songwriter decided it was time to leave the
Culture-centre folk scene, get properly loud and back onto the Rock stage. The catalyst was the bassist Basti Bauer from Winston who responded to the first demos and encouraged John to ask the guitarist and drummer from the.spines, Bruno Körner and Leonardo Bardelle to join.
The ProZak Five was born.
Initially playing songs from John's solo set, the band quickly developed a characteristic sound, becoming harder and louder while exploring each other's musical personalities. A small setback was the loss of Basti due to his other musical commitments. This led to a period with Matthes Reth of
The Inner Cell (...) Mehr anzeigen and The Ton on bass.
In this phase the band began writing and recording new songs together and although differing musical attitudes ended the relationship with Matthes a year later, the reaction to the first live appearances was enough to ensure survival.
With the arrival of Benny Bussas, who quickly established himself as the bassist of choice,The ProZak Five began to consolidate their style, with more and more material being written
collectively, culminating in the recording of the album “The ProZak Five“.
Successful gigs and a „We play anywhere“ attitude has brought a steadily increasing following and a reputation for good live performance.
Difficult to categorise, The ProZak Five have drawn comparisons with bands as diverse as Led Zeppelin,Joy Division,The Foofighters and Incubus.
