"When we were becoming geniuses, when we were dying of hunger, and nobody wanted to publish us, we spent even more time in the rehearsal room and bars than we have ever did before. It was wonderful to get a seat in a dirty old pub with no sunlight and think about the next poem or fill or head with music that the world does not care about."

Black Currant rediscover folkmusic for themselves. Music charged with the will to tell pictures, to tell stories and to tell emotions. Now, in the end of 2009, they try to connect their roots which consists of popular Indiemusic with this new change of mind. There are new babies born, new discovered spots and totally new relations. Bericht Rheinspaziert Festival:
Sie haben bereits ihre eigene CD aufgenommen mit dem Titel "This could be a symphony": Und als die Zuhörer der Honnefer Band "Black Currant" so richtig mitrockten vor der Bühne, warf Sänger Maik Iser kurzerhand einige "Scheiben" in den Fan-Block. Mit Punk- und Hardrock hatten die jungen Musiker angefangen, bei Indie-Pop und Indie-Rock sind sie angekommen.

Und es ist ein Gerücht, dass die Truppe auseinandergeht. Vielmehr wünschen sich die Jungs eigentlich nichts sehnlicher, als irgendwann nur noch Musik zu machen. Schlagzeuger Milan Jacobi (21) und David Weber (24) studieren ohnehin beide das Fach Musikkomposition. Gitarrist Weber zeichnet denn auch für die Komposition verantwortlich, während Maik Iser (24), Sport- und Bio-Student, die Texte strickt.

Für die Basstöne sorgt Martin Schugens, der angehende Philosoph der "schwarzen Johannisbeeren". Eigens wegen "Black Currant" war Christian Roy-Pogodzik aus Kassel angereist: "Stimmung und Band sind klasse." Zum Abschluss spielte die Band nochmals "Song one", das Lied, mit dem alles begann.
