"I think I have a little bug inside my head…" – ONOMA – Bug
This opening line from Onoma's 2009 "Bug" single, symbolizes most the inner concealed chaos that is unveiled in Onoma's music and live shows.
The Israeli based band, whose name aptly means "Name" in greek, plays a down-tuned form of alternative metal, combining emotive dark melodies with raw aggressiveness and tight rhythmic grooves .Often incorporating free-form noise passages in its live shows, the band's being described as an alter-ego outburst with lyrics dealing with subconscious and self explore. Influences include: Alice In Chains, Korn and Meshuggah among others.
Onoma was created in 2007, by vocalist Elad Koren, guitarist Asaf Keidan and drummer Saggi Hen. The three long time friends and music colleagues, began writing (...) Mehr anzeigen songs collectively and set out to record a number of self-produced demos during 2007 and 2008 with session bass player Tal Markus. Recorded, Engineered and mixed by drummer Saggi Hen at Haifa's Art Studios, the songs captured Onoma's atmosphere and style. "Bug", "My Drug" and "Twisted" began receiving high praise over the internet, and got into radio rotation in a number of local, US and web based radio stations such as: Hard Rock Radio Live, Metal Messiah Radio and more …
2009 saw the band performing throughout Israel, in a large number of venues, clubs, and pubs, gaining followers in the local vibrant live scene. In November bassist Andrei Aframov (ex-Phantom Pain) joined the band as a permanent member.
The band currently works intensively on it's yet untitled first album- due out this upcoming year.
