After his debut album Voidgaze Dopamine Salad (October 2025), Atom Lux is back with Kamikaze Butterfly (June 2026), a five-track EP that represents an intermediate step toward a second full-length album planned for release in 2027. While maintaining continuity with the first album, in this second studio release Atom Lux ventures into the exploration of sharper, rawer and harder sounds, edging into psychedelic-punk and prog-stoner territories without losing sight of his garage and alternative background.
The name Kamikaze Butterfly is not taken from any of the tracks and does not refer to anything concrete; rather, it evokes the imagery of the duality of a kamikaze act (figurative or otherwise) performed by a small, delicate being - such as a butterfly - toward its massive target: from the butterfly’s point of view, a suicide mission charged with maximum emotion and significance; from the target’s perspective, much larger in scale, an insignificant event.
From a conceptual, unspoken point of view Kamikaze Butterfly unfolds as a meta-reflection on the relativity of how events are perceived, and on our own perception of that very relativity.
