Mastered by Jens Bogren (Opeth, Dimmu Borgir, Sepultura, James LaBrie, Devin Townsend, Haken, Symphony X...), Origins is firmly on par with international genre heavyweights, while music and lyrics dive deeper into the worlds of Progressive Metal and Classical Music than before.
Origins kicks off with rhythmically playful and heavy-grooving tracks like “Ruins of Time” and “Like Tears in Rain”. Spacy atmospheres unfold in “Starborn” and “Quantum”, while a stark contrast is offered by “Through Amber Eyes” — an intimate piece driven solely by classical guitar, piano, and upright bass.
At the heart of the prouction lies the epic title track “Origins” — a nearly 30-minute journey through human history, brought to life by a full symphony orchestra, classical choir, and ethnic percussion. From our earliest beginnings and the primal struggle for survival in an unknown world, to the conquest of the planet and mankind’s first steps into space, this composition seamlessly blends the force of a metal band with the depth of orchestral grandeur — without one element overpowering the other.
In addition to Jens Bogren’s masterful finishing touch, the orchestral and choir arrangements were mixed by Roman Beilharz (audio engineering lecturer at the Institute of Music, University of Kassel, Germany), while the powerful soprano voice of Anna Nesyba (soloist for the Academy for Ancient Music Berlin, Freiburg Baroque Orchestra, and vocal coach at the Institute of Music, University of Kassel) adds an emotional and virtuosic dimension.
Furthermore, Chris Broderick (ex- Nevermore/ Megadeth, now In Flames), in his role as guitar teacher and mentor to Nicolao dos Santos (Hadean guitarist, vocalist and producer of Origins), contributed valuable feedback on the mix — which was crafted by Hadean lead vocalist Michael “Freio” Haas in the band’s own Big Easy Studio.
