Details

The third EP from Minsk alternative band WEESP. On this album, the band embodied all their brave creative ideas by creating a unique cocktail of unusual guitar sound, interesting electronic inserts and strong, melodic vocals.
The group began its existence in 2009, and has now managed to assert itself as one of the youngest and most promising groups of the alternative scene in Belarus. The quality of the recording and sampling on their self-made releases is quite high, underscoring the professionalism of young musicians and their desire to develop their own music.

EP «This will destroy us» consists of six tracks, and each of them develops the musical conception of WEESP in its own way.

The title track «This will destroy us» stands a relatively fast pace, lots of synth and variety vocals. This song will certainly please those who prefer heavy music with electronics.

EP’s second track is no less dynamic and dense «There's like no tomorrow». In this arrangement is being developed melodic side WEESP, clearly expressed the emphasis on the complex structure of the track. Added to a single vocal choral parts, the guitar is still perfectly coexisting with a synthesizer, creating a rich background.

The next track has a chilling title «The Horror». Here the musicians tried to play something a little more slow, but with a bright melody, more relaxed vocals and energetic guitar thrashing. Electronic parties constantly provoke ragged pace of the composition, and the drums are successfully removed to the front end, which creates quite a powerful rhythmic message.

«Sub» - probably the quietest song on the EP. But the vocal is literally brought to hysterical notes and melodies are based mostly on keyboards. Until the very last seconds of the composition it develops on strain contrast and harmony, but in the end a sound storm suddenly falls on the listener’s head, mixed with hard guitar riffs, sharp shocks and aggressive bass party.

One of the most potential hit tracks on the EP – « Livan». This composition reflects an unusual approach to the development of musical artist’s scheme in every sense. Guys have masterfully realized their musical experiment on musical part by coloring track with oriental tones. Saxophone lose completes necessary emotional range. Melodic, gentleness and yet impulsive, sometimes even a kind of slow-motion - these are the associations that remain after listening to the song. To sum it up - a composition went out a holistic, progressive and even slightly pop.

EP is closed by a remastered version of the 2009 single «Exodus: origins». This song became the hallmark of WEESP not accidently – it holistically covers all stylistic and compositional features of this Minsk alternative band. Powerful, compact sound, successful insertion of a keyboard and excellent guitar accompaniment, expressive rhythm section - these are the main characteristics of the track. The new version significantly improves the quality of recording, all the instruments sounds cleaner, and in the foreground we can see duo of guitar and synthesizer.
