Bio/Info

Darren Flynn is a singer-songwriter from Dublin, Ireland, crafting his own blend of Americana-
infused folk and country. He received a nomination for the Choice Music Award (the Irish
equivalent of the Mercury Music Prize) as part of his previous band, Mongrel State, and has
emerged as a solo artist delivering his own distinctive entertaining style of music, at once both retro and modernist.

Flynn cites his musical influences as Van Morrison, Bruce Springsteen & Johnny Cash and his music is often likened to artists such as Nathaniel Rateliff, Pokey LaFarge, Langhorne Slim, JD McPherson. His poetic, thoughtful lyricism, and joyful, down to earth persona create an irreverent and engaging musical experience, described by Moya Brennan, (Clannad) as “Addictive music and performance with a new (...) Mehr anzeigentwist.”

During 2026, Flynn released three singles and an EP, earning positive reviews from countless blogs, such as: roadie-music.com, gratefulweb.com, V13.net, rgm.press and
pauseandplay.com, and robust playlist support from Spotify Radio, Spotify Mixes, Spotify Discover Weekly, Acoustic Morning Coffee and Country Love Songs.

He also received extensive radio support for these releases from DJs and shows across the USA, Europe and Australia, including from: Stuart Coupe (2SER in Sydney & syndicated stations), Sunday Coffee House with Greg Schatzmann (CJLX 91.3 FM in Ontario & syndicated stations), Detour with Paul Hartman (WTMD 89.7 in Baltimore) and multiple others internationally, as well as local support from Radio Nova FM, Shannonside FM, WLR FM and Radio Kerry, among others.

DJ Marilyn Rea Beyer on The Midnight Special (WFMT 98.7FM in Chicago) described Flynn’s song “Pinebox” as "Hard edged, but smart and in a good way”, and Brian Lally from RTE Radio 1 Ireland described his music as "Mighty fine ...perfect for a hooch special"

Hot Press magazine noted “Flynn’s ability to convey sentiment with his trademark musical style” and described his track ‘I Ain’t Gonna Worry About It” as “a brand new feel-good classic for the fans of folk and country.”

Aaron Willschick from V13.net commented: “With his open-minded approach and ability to hit on many different musical styles…, Flynn is an artist who is easy to get on to.”

His music has been described as "compelling" (Irish Times) and with "a great bustling, rousing
energy" (Irish Mirror).

Flynn’s live performances are well known for his uplifting infectious energy, and the genuine connection he builds with the audience His old-school sense of showmanship leaves you knowing he’s put everything he has into every show.

He has performed extensively both in Ireland and internationally. In 2026 he played in Germany, the Netherlands, Norway and Denmark, including a triumphant return to a headline slot at Noget Bedre (Denmark), and formerly at Feito a Man Festival, and Santiago De Compostela (Spain).

His domestic performances include The Electric Picnic, Kilkenny Roots Festival, Vantastival, and Sligo Live.
