From gritty garage rock to reggae to deep funk, soul and soul jazz, I have been performing and recording for over 40 years.
As a freelancer I have worked all over Europe with Rhoda Dakar (The Specials), The Getup (Heavy Hammond Funk), Reuben Wilson (Blue Note), Dan Ackroyd (Blues Brothers), Crowd Company (Vintage League Music), The Charles Napiers (Surf/Garage Rock) and jammed with Larry Graham, Bernard Purdie and The New Mastersounds.
In 2000 I formed GENE DRAYTON UNIT to play the music we describe as "Blue Note meets Stax in the garage" - gritty sixties style club music played by Hammond and tenor that you can dance to. We played London's famous 100 Club 30 times.
Since 2005 I've been in the UK funk-soul-jazz outfit "THE FANTASTICS!", our new album will be released on BBE Music in spring (...) Mehr anzeigen, and there are some festival dates planned, after the Lockdown.
Since moving to Hamburg a few years ago, I've mainly been writing, arranging and recording in my own studio, but with Corona finally coming to an end, it's time to get back on stage.
