Max Winkelmann

Hi everybody!

I'm Max, a drummer interested in lots of genres and instruments. Looking back at about 25 years of making music, the thing I'm most proud of is the album I recorded with my band Sentryturn in Berlin in 2019. For one of the more melodic songs, I organized the recording and production of a music video: youtube.com...h?v=VjvLT8fgsMY For one of the more technical songs, I recorded a drum play through: youtube.com...h?v=LVktGntlD-g If you wanna hear more, here's the full album: open.spotify.com...UPqaa3lMww From 2014 to 2024, Sentryturn was my main band in Berlin, and I was involved in song writing, organizing concerts, and all other things.

In addition to these bands, I played in big bands, live cover bands, and many live jam sessions in Berlin incl. Rickenbackers Music Inn, Artenschutz Theater, and Bei Ernst. Overall, probably a triple number of live gigs on the drums with anywhere between 1 and 500 people listening.

For drums specifically, I also took lessons at my local music school (2006 to 2012), so I can read sheet music. In 2015, I also took a few lessons with the great Thomas Alkier.

Apart from the drums, I regularly grabbed string instruments, primarily the guitar but also bass and ukulele. So I have some basic understanding of music theory and can contribute to songwriting.

Whatever the genre is: the drums have to groove ;) For me that can be a light funky groove, a bouncing dance groove or a heavy metal groove. Weniger anzeigen
