velveteen, vier Kerle aus Frankfurt am Main, im Mai als noch als Support
von We are Scientists on Tour, kommen mit ihrem Album „Home Waters“
vorbei. „Home Waters“ wirft große Schatten voraus, denn MTV New York
rief in Frankfurt an und informierte die Vier, dass in den Tauschbörsen
jemand ihr eigenes Album als Death Cab for Cuties neues Album
„Narrow Stairs“ getarnt zum Downloaden angeboten hat.
Die Band war zwar kurz erschrocken, aber dann doch erfreut, denn auf
einmal kannte die halbe Welt die Frankfurter, die schon seit über 10
Jahren zusammen Musik machen. Die ganze Zeit mit DCFC verglichen
werden nervt die Jungs schon ein wenig, sehen sie sich doch eher in
einer Ecke mit Notwist und Slut.

HOME WATERS…
The release of „HOME WATERS“ finally saw velveteen rise above the status of an insid (...) Mehr anzeigener’s
tip and earned them some well-deserved and enthusiastic recognition from high profile
music-journalists as well as listeners.
However, their sophisticated indie-guitar-pop which is characterised by a love for melody and
a passion for layers of sound is as impressive live as it is on the album. When they played to
a sell-out crowd at the Mousonturm in Frankfurt as a local support for We are Scientists,
Keith Murray and Chris Cain spontaneously decided to make them their supporting band for
the rest of their tour.
Eventually, the April Fool’s joke by an American blogger who leaked “Home Waters” on the
internet as the long-awaited Death Cab for Cutie album prior to its release, left velveteen
gobsmacked by the reaction that followed. All of the sudden, they found themselves on MTV
NEWS in the US and whereas one might think that disappointed DCfC fans would blame
velveteen for being a rip-off, the impressively positive reactions and messages they received
from thousands of listeners from the United States and all over the world are simply a fact.

velveteen are currently back in the studio with plans of a release and some touring later in
2009.
