Bio/Info

The very first steps in my musical career began at school. I played songs on my lunch box and serenaded my teachers with my ukulele. Music filled my world from then on and continues to throughout every single day. At the age of 12 I was a kind of “Special Guest” of my mother’s choir and was performing the German hit “Mief” from “Die Doofen”. The newspapers after called me “The new Heintje 2000“. I have hopefully shrugged that off since then.
But my life as a musician began in ernest in 2005 when I bet my brother that I would play three Songs at the following carnival weekend. And after three sleepless nights I enjoyed my first real public performance. To be honest the songs all had the same chords but nobody realised.

From that day on we founded our first Cover Band “Nightlive” But after (...) Mehr anzeigenseveral gigs I was interested in doing something that was much more me. I wanted something of my own as opposed to other people’s compositions. My dream was someone else would cover my music someday.
„Nighlive“ broke up. There I was alone again with my guitar and the five chords that I’d learned by then (I now know six). I took some guitar lessons from a friend of mine and began searching for other like minded people. Three Months later the line up was complete and we set about writing our first three songs. It was from this point that I really began to enjoy singing. I showed the first three songs to my guitar teacher. He was subsequently impressed to the point that he asked if he could join the band.
After the first rehearsals I decided to put the guitar down for now and concentrate on being a singer and frontman. In 2006 we formally finalised my first Band properly. We were called “Gender Traffic”. In 2009 we did approximately forty gigs with our own credible songs in and around Germany. We also won three “Battle Of The Bands” contests. We also played as support act for „The Sweet“,„Saga” and the renowned bass player „TM Stevens”. We were placed in the best twenty five at the “youtube secret talents award program.
After testing several prospective producers we recorded and released our first album “Boarding Time” in August 2010. But after playing together for more than six years, the interests of the musicians of Gender Traffic started to go in different directions. Various attempts were made to rectify and reconcile our differences. This proved unfruitful and the inevitable break up happened in 2012. This was a bitter blow to me personally as this band was my baby. I was advised that these things happen and to pick myself up, dust myself off and persevere with my own career.

I got myself some Vocal Coaching to bring me onto the next level. I also received a fair bit of help and assistance Andy Davies. Andy in fact was my guitar teacher’s teacher. He also mentored Gender Traffic in our early days. He prepared us back then for our first stage performances and subsequently recorded our first ever demos in his Home Studio. He has been advising me on technical and musical issues since then. We had a few unofficial counselling sessions abetted by his first rate Single Malt. He reinstalled my self confidence and encouraged me to undertake a new project. And however this story will end someday- Cheers, mate!

Then one cold day I got a phone call from Lukas Schaaf. He opened with something like “Are you interested in doing some stuff together”? And without knowing him I was like “Why not”? This was not only a start of a good friendship but we also excelled in the studio production side of the fruits of my recent recordings.

We’ve working for on my first Solo Album one year. It is now near to completion and will be released in April 2013.
