MOLASS sind keine gewöhnliche Band; sie sind eine Bewegung, die das Neo Soul-Genre neu definieren. Ihre Musik ist eine faszinierende Verschmelzung von Alt und Neu, ein Spiel zwischen Heiß und Kalt, das Emotionen hervorruft, die schwer in Worte zu fassen sind. Inspiriert von Bands wie „Hiatus Kaiyote“, „Moses Sumney“ und „The Alan Parsons Project“ wagt ihre Musik einen Sprung in unerwartete Tiefen und löst dabei konventionelle Genregrenzen auf.
Funk, Jazz und elektronische Elemente dienen als Sprungbrett, werden aber nie bis zum Ende ausformuliert, sondern fusionieren mit der markant facettenreiche Stimme von Frontfrau Marissa Möller zu einer Groovy Fairytale. Die eingespielte Combo wird durch Keyboarder Jan Lammert, Bassist Julian Schwiebert und Drummer Lambert Windges vervo (...) Mehr anzeigenllständigt und verleiht dem Sound von MOLASS eine einzigartige Ehrlichkeit, die das Ohr und die Seele gleichermaßen anspricht.
Die aus Köln stammende Band macht im Jahr 2021 den 2. Platz beim größten Jazz- Nachwuchs Preis Deutschlands - Future Sounds bei den Leverkusener Jazztagen. 2022 veröffentlichen MOLASS ihr zweites Studioalbum „Piece Of Mass“ und kurz darauf ihre EP „Heaviness & Hopes“.

MOLASS is not your ordinary band; they are a movement redefining the Neo Soul genre. Their music is a captivating fusion of old and new, a play between hot and cold, evoking emotions that are hard to put into words. Inspired by bands like „Hiatus Kaiyote“, "Moses Sumney" and "The Alan Parsons Project" their music takes a leap into unexpected depths, breaking conventional genre boundaries.
Funk, jazz, and electronic vibes blend seamlessly with the distinctive, multifarious voice of front woman Marissa Möller, crafting an enchanting Groovy Fairytale that remains tantalizingly elusive. The ensemble is completed by keyboardist Jan Lammert, bassist Julian Schwiebert, and drummer Lambert Windges, infusing MOLASS's sound with a rare authenticity that resonates with both the ear and the soul.
Hailing from Cologne (Germany), the band secured the 2nd place in Germany's largest jazz newcomer competition called Future Sounds at the Leverkusener Jazztage in 2021. In 2022 MOLASS released their second studio album "Piece Of Mass" followed shortly by their EP "Heaviness & Hopes“.
