Parsifall

Metal/Hardcore aus Wuerzburg, seit 2003

Bio/Info

PARSIFALL originally began as a side project for Dave (singer and frontman for Davidian) and Cosmin (drummer and member of Black Attack recording artist Apokrypha and songwriter and drummer of Main Song-writing contest winner Q-H) in late 2004 to give voice to their concerns about the post 9-11 world. After discussing the direction they wanted to go both lyrically and musically, they then added Chuck (guitarist and former A.O.R?) and Freddy (Bass and also of Apokrypha). As the music developed and the messages took form, they produced a small demo CD of four songs titled For You to Fight, after the song of the same title, which Dave and Cosmin wrote together. The CD has been well received in the press and featured on the play lists of local clubs and underground radio programs. It was also (...) Mehr anzeigenselected as a New Comer Tip of the Month in Legacy Magazine for January 2006. Shortly thereafter, line up changes were made to the rhythm section, with Eric Teichert taking over drums and Twist (My Shameful and also of former A.O.R?) taking over on bass. The new formation quickly wrote 7 new songs, which they presented to enthusiastic audiences around Germany on a small tour with Ektomorf and Onslaught. The band then entered the studio to produce their first full-length album, produced by Andy Classen. All of the music and lyrics address the theme of what Dr. Martin Luther King, jr., called the redemptive power of unearned suffering. PARSIFALL believes that we have a lot to learn from those who have endured unearned suffering, and that what we have to learn can only truly be understood by empathizing with those who have undergone this suffering, and then acting with compassion to do whatever we can to help them. The late mythologist and philosopher Joseph Campbell, telling the story of Parsifal, stated that it was the knight..s willingness to demonstrate mitleid to the suffering Fisher King by asking him, What ails you? that then healed both the King and the Waste Land. In its brief history, PARSIFALL has been fortunate enough to develop a gathering of those who share in this commitment, and this has resulted in being given the opportunity to play as support for such bands as Dismember, Carnal Forge, Disbelief, Maroon, Heaven Shall Burn, Cataract, Fleschcrawl, Fear My Thoughts, Final Breath, Equilibrium, and others as well as being invited to play at some major Open Air festivals. In the future, PARSIFALL will continue to challenge conventional conceptions of the Metal, Hardcore and Rock genres.

Reviews of Demo CD For You to Fight (English): Legacy Magazine New Comer Tip January 2006--The Opener ’For You To Fight’ is a mix of doom metal and aggressive vocals that stay well mixed in the background. The song begins with soft guitar parts and clean singing, and then leads into aggressive screaming passages and heavy drumming that moves smoothly and easily back into an even groove. The 3rd track, "Together", is the "creamy topping" of the demo. Introduced by a very melancholy keyboard, one that is reminiscent of Trent Reznor..s "Something I Can Never Have", the song then begins with singer Dave..s soft and well-fitting voice. The atmosphere of this song is incredibly well achieved, including when the front man changes from clean singing to intensive shouting. The voice stays in the back ground and is underlayed by a fantastic keyboard melody, which could easily sound cheap, but in this case not at all. The other 3 songs are also in the style of bands like Cult of Luna or The Ocean, and achieve magical atmospheres within 3 minutes. Parsifall put their entire hearts into their music. You can feel it with every second. In contrast to other newcomer bands, the song structures are well developed and thought out, and the melancholy, heavy, but comfortable atmosphere achieved is convincing even after one hearing. 11 Points (Legacy Magazine)

Sleepless Metalzine Live Review Zabbaduschder 2007

English: And then Parsifall stepped on the stage. The band has a real unique sound, mixing metal and hardcore in their very personal style, but I wouldn´t call it metalcore. The closest comparison you can make is something like a mix of Disbelief and Neurosis. Musically, they are technical and dark. From what the singer Dave (who is also the frontman for Davidian) said between songs, the text deals with important relationship issues, including destruction of the family. Why the band didn´t get even more reaction from the crowd, I can´t say. Maybe the sound was too complex or the night before too long. For me the gig was absolutely super and I can only say, both thumbs up.

Review--Zabbaduschder 2007 (Metal-Inside)

English: PARSIFALL was the first band who threatened this sunny afternoon with dark storm clouds. And the band from Davidian´s singer Dave was good. Style-wise and sound-wise they remind me of CROWBAR, while at the same time demonstrating originality. This isn´t the last word you´ll be reading about these guys. We´ll definately be hearing something about them again. Weniger anzeigen
