Schönheit im Schroffen. Harsche Eleganz. Melodien zwischen Licht und Schatten. Pure Emotion. Und über allem wie ein schwarzer Schleier die Melancholie – COMATIC SLEEPs Demo „Pale“ atmet die Dunkelheit und ersteht doch immer wieder neu aus der Asche auf. Heaviness und Poesie schließen sich hier keineswegs aus, und der Hörer tritt einem modernen Riff-Manifest entgegen, das sich technisch anspruchsvoll gibt, aber dennoch über allem der Melodie huldigt. Begriffe wie
Prog, Metal, Dark schweben im Raum, Querverweise an KATATONIA oder GHOST BRIGADE blitzen auf – und greifen doch nicht. COMATIC SLEEP ist der seltene Kunstgriff gelungen, mit einem DEMO eine eigene (...) Mehr anzeigenIdentität zu etablieren.

Autodidaktik, pures Talent und harte Schule – die Wahlberliner COMATIC SLEEP sind eine authentische Mischung aus allen dreien. Auch ohne Universitäts-Seilschaften hätten sich die Beiden, die quasi in jeder wachen Minute Musik erschaffen, atmen und leben, treffen müssen: Seelenverwandtschaft ist ein mächtiges Wort, und doch versteht sich das Duo oft blind, während Tag und Nacht an neuem Material gefeilt wird.

In Low Budget-Eigenregie hauchten COMATIC SLEEP „Pale“ in schlaflosen Nächten Leben ein – selbst produziert und selbst gemastered. Die Perfektionisten ließen nur Songmaterial zu, das beiden Parteien ohne Abstriche zusagte – dasselbe galt und gilt für die düsteren Texte: „Du läufst durch eine belebte Stadt, und die Leute kommen einem so blass und durchsichtig vor. Ohne Persönlichkeit. Das Ich in unseren Texten kämpft dagegen und versagt“, enthüllt Sänger Roman. Der balladeske Vorab-Track „Home“ traf mit melancholischer Sehnsuchtsmelodie den Nerv der Zeit: schnell fand man auch auf YouTube anklang, und der Hunger auf mehr COMATIC SLEEP wuchs!

“Home” bezeichnet die Band selbst als Findungsphase, der wesentlich düstereres, schnelleres und massiveres Material folgen soll. Diese Wandlung ist bereits auf „Pale“ zu erkennen, das in schwarz schimmernden Facetten das Bild einer jungen Band entwirft, die Großes vor sich hat. Und was bislang im Verborgenen heranwuchs, soll bald entfesselt werden: COMATIC SLEEP wurde nun noch durch drei Musiker vervollständigt, um bald auch die Bühne in gleißendes Licht zu hüllen…

Beauty in ruggedness. Harsh elegance. Melodies in between light and shadows. Pure emotion. And above all lies melancholy like a black veil – COMATIC SLEEP`s demo „Pale“ breathes darkness and yet continues to rise from the ashes over and over again. Heaviness and poetry form a unique bond here and the listener is facing a modern riff manifesto that possesses a sophisticated character, yet worships catchiness all the same. Notions like prog, metal, dark come to mind fleetingly, comparisons to acts such as KATATONIA or GHOST BRIGADE remain futile.
COMATIC SLEEP managed to overcome the hurdle of finding a unique identity with a DEMO.

Autodidacticism, pure talent and the school of hard knocks – Berliners-by-choice COMATIC SLEEP are an authentic mix of all three. Even without university connections these two (who basically create, live and breathe music in every waking hour) would have met: spiritual kinship is a strong notion, but it`s not uncommon for this duo to blindly understand each other while new material is being created.

All by themselves COMATIC SLEEP breathed life into „Pale“ during sleepless nights – a self-produced and self-mastered demo that sounds so much better than most hyper-expensive, polished efforts! The two perfectionists only agreed to songs both deemed as impeccable – same goes for the sombre lyrics: „You`re walking through a lively city and people just seem so pale and transparent to you. No personality. The “I” in our lyrics is fighting against that and fails”, singer Roman Laskowski unveils. The previously released ballad „Home“ perfectly captured contemporary zeitgeist with its melody full of longing: in no time the band was recognized on YouTube and COMATIC SLEEP`s fan base was growing at rapid speed!

The band itself refers to “Home” as an orientation phase that will be followed by rather dark, faster and more massive material. An evolution that is already evident on „Pale“ that conjures up the image of a young act born for big things in darkly shimmering facets. What has been growing in hidden places will be unleashed soon: COMATIC SLEEP found three like-minded musicians to bathe „Pale“ in the blinding lights of stages worldwide…
