Katre

Katre is a Berlin-based atmospheric post-metal band formed in 2014. The band takes its name from the old Arabic word katre, meaning “the drop”. What distinguishes Katre is that they tell stories with their music, building each release as a concept album that follows a single narrative from beginning to end.

Their debut album Encounters (2017, Fluttery Records) explored the concept of existence, moving through conception and birth, growth, and self-awareness. It was warmly received in the rock scene and entered the iTunes Top 200 Rock Chart in Turkey at number nine.

The second studio album, Behind the Resilience (2021), turned outward to one of the defining crises of our time. It tells the story of a refugee family across the different phases of displacement: life before the war, the outb (...) Mehr anzeigenreak of events, the dangerous journey toward Europe, and the struggle to adapt to an unwanted new life. Produced by Chris Edrich (The Ocean, Klone, Leprous), the album was followed by Live at Kulturfabrik, a recorded EP that brought the album’s narrative to the stage.

With their third studio album, Natura, Katre widens the lens once more. A conceptual work in seven tracks, Natura follows a character confronting humanity’s claim of superiority over nature, and its impulse to extract and deplete everything nature has to give. The journey moves from grief and alienation through ancient memory and reckoning, arriving at moral clarity and the courage to speak. The album was mixed by Terry Nikas at Zero Gravity Studios and mastered by Dinos Prassas.

Drawing on atmospheric music, post-rock, post-metal, and progressive metal, Katre invites listeners to explore the complexities of the human experience and to find meaning in shared stories of strength, loss, and hope.

The band’s lineup has evolved across these records. Marcos Feminella (Drums) and Berkin Hiçsönmez (Guitars) joined in 2022, and together with Özgür Şepşül (Bass) the band recorded the live EP. Following Özgür’s departure in 2025, Hüseyin Koç joined on bass guitars, and Thomas Kock replaced Berkin Hiçsönmez, completing the group’s current formation.
