NUMBER WITH NO NAME

NUMBER WITH NO NAME – das Power-Trio aus der Euregio Maas-Rhein, dass sich stilistischen Grenzen genauso wenig verpflichtet fühlt wie musikalischen Konventionen.

Seit ihrer Gründung haben NUMBER WITH NO NAME zahlreiche Bühnen in ihrer Region bespielt – darunter das Kimiko Festival, die atmosphärische Waldbühne am deutsch-belgischen Grenzübergang Köpfchen und die renommierte Montagskonzert-Reihe im Aachener Domkeller. Ihr Song Future-Proof fand 2021 sogar den Weg ins Programm des Belgischen Rundfunks.

Mit einer eigenwilligen Mischung aus Folk, Grunge, Reggae und Rock erschaffen NUMBER WITH NO NAME einen Sound, der sowohl tief verwurzelt als auch mutig nach vorn gewandt ist.
Slide-Gitarre trifft auf funky Bass-Lines, mal roh und verzerrt, mal kristallklar und rhythmisch treibend. Klanglan (...) Mehr anzeigendschaften, veredelt mit subtilen Delay-Effekten oder brachialer Energie, bilden das Fundament für die Lyrik mit Substanz – poetisch, gesellschaftskritisch und immer mit einem Auge für das Wesentliche.

Der Gründer und Bandleader vertritt die Meinung, dass ein Song nicht aus dem Genre, sondern aus einer Emotion geboren wird, zu der der musikalische Stil passen muss. Mit seinen Bandkollegen hat er Mitstreiter gefunden, die diese Ansicht mittragen und das Ganze gemeinsam musikalisch abrunden.

Benannt ist die Band übrigens nach einem Song der Gruppe "Ben Harper And Relentless 7".
Ein Song eines Musikers, der Phil besonders inspirierte.

NUMBER WITH NO NAME

is a power trio based in the three-border region where Belgium, Germany, and the Netherlands meet.

Since their formation, Number With No Name has played numerous stages in their region – including the Kimiko Festival in Aachen, the atmospheric KuKuK Waldbühne at the German-Belgian border crossing Köpfchen, and the renowned "Montagskonzert" series at the Aachen Domkeller. Their song Future-Proof even made its way into the program of Belgian Radio (BRF1) in 2021.

The songwriting is influenced by lots of different styles of music.
The founder and bandleader note that it's not his intention to follow a single genre with his music.
In Phil's opinion, songs are not born out of the genre but out of an emotion, where the musical style has to match.

With his bandmates, he has found companions who share his view and contribute to round out the whole thing.
Due to the different styles, something leveled off and developed into what could be roughly described as independent post-grunge.
Verses clean and powerful refrains are just some components to be named.

Ingredients of folk, grunge, reggae, and rock, flavored with lap steel and funky bass lines, partly refined with a pinch of delay, sometimes deviled with hot distortion, or just 'clean' and rhythmical. All that describes the sound of Number With No Name and lets no song sound like another.

Trivia:
As the COVID-19 pandemic hit, when borders were closed due to lockdowns and travel restrictions, the band came up with the idea of calling their music style "rock beyond borders". During this time, it was impossible for the trio, living in a border region across different countries, to meet in person and jam together. The name fit perfectly – not only in the literal sense, but also figuratively, as it reflects their musical freedom.

The band is named after a song by "Ben Harper and Relentless 7."
