Concert review: XB-liebig 7.09.

The taste of freedom / By Florian Brinkmann

"Killing Soul do their dirty promises of salvation in the XB-liebig.
Tardiness is not a virtue, it is a vice. Constantly I'm late. I miss the bus, the beginning of the movie or the news. But like every other vice tardiness promises a thieving pleasure. Tardiness releases energy, increases the tension, sharpens the senses. One simply must acquire the missed things quickly and creatively.

The critic thus has missed the beginning of the Killing Soul Concert in the XB-liebig , but what he experienced then? The door to the club opens, the band has been playing and how it is proper to the good old rock music, they transformed their adepts in no time in extremly cool, exalted beings. A sip from the beer bottle, a pull (...) Mehr anzeigenon the cigarette, his thumb stuck in the belt loop and a redeemed "Yeah" expelled: The evening had begun.
Killing Soul heaves one number one force after another into the small tavern in the free radical part of Friedrichshain. The dingy XB -liebig, one of the last squatter projects in the city shaking in its foundations, and the audience screams with a will for redemption enthusiasm.

How could that happen in the four-tothe-floor capital Berlin?
Set as a classical trio guitar, bass, drums, these guys create an earthy, warm sound, as the whole licked Retro Blues Rockfashion did not bring about. The guitarist with the biblical name of The Youngest can let whine and scream, his creaky shrieky Sparkleguitar so that the rind is just about to crack out. No note is too much, not a solo sounds affected. Jack White could still cut off a slice of it. Man it's hard to write down: At its best, The Youngest is a seductive magician, a shaman of the eternal Roots Rock, whose singing oscillates between tremble like a leaf nervousness and brash freedom expression while clarifying one thing immovable: as long as rock music is about to be, freedom on earth is possible. Paul Schuster on bass let detonate well-placed "big bass note" bombs, which send the guitar back to earth, while the audience is massaged most pleasantly in the region of the heart. In combination with the drummer Tony Elschner, a gigolo before the Lord, the beat is pumping a good dose of kick-ass-attitude through the veins, and the ladies were shaking in the very same humorous style.

How then is the conclusion of the evening? He who comes late misses the beginning of worship. Rarely, it was so beautiful to let kill one's soul. "
